Aniecia Browning Immediate Past Regional Representative

During my tenure as the Southwest Regional Representative, working with Soror Iles was truly motivating and inspiring. Her leadership has a unique way of elevating everyone around her, and she consistently cultivates environments where collegiates feel valued, supported, and empowered. Whether we partnered on the virtual collegiate roundtable with the Regional Nominating chairs or collaborated during the collegiate workshop in The Woodlands, she approached every aspect with intention and a deep passion for developing our future leaders.

When I served as the facilitator for the virtual candidates’ forum, I witnessed her calm, steady presence and her unwavering dedication to fairness, transparency, and sisterhood. She leads with purpose, fosters growth, and ensures that both alumnae and collegiates know they have a true advocate in her. Soror Iles is the kind of leader who inspires confidence and reminds us of the transformative power of service.

Makayla Ware, 2022-2024 Collegiate Member, Southwest Region Nominating Committee

Hi, my name is Mikayla Ware, and I am a Fall 2022 initiate of the Delta Eta Chapter. I had the pleasure of serving on the 2024 Regional Nominating Committee under the leadership of Soror Monica Iles.

Coming in as a collegiate, I was initially very nervous about stepping into this role, as it was a new and significant responsibility. However, Soror Iles made the transition seamless by creating a welcoming and supportive environment from the very beginning. She took the time to ensure that I understood my role and felt confident in contributing to the committee’s work.

Under her guidance, the nominating process ran smoothly, efficiently, and with great organization. She demonstrated exceptional leadership by maintaining clear and consistent communication, providing reassurance when needed, and encouraging collaboration among all members.

Most importantly, Soror Iles fostered a sisterly, respectful, and kind working environment that made the entire experience both enjoyable and rewarding. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have served under her leadership and to have learned from her example.

What started as a close friendship over 44 years ago blossomed into something far deeper—a true sisterhood—one that has been shaped by love, purpose, and shared service. As our paths continued to cross through our work in Delta, we found ourselves serving in many of the same spaces, alongside the same committed women, doing the work that truly matters.

I have watched her work tirelessly, often behind the scenes, with a level of commitment, excellence, and heart that speaks volumes. Her work ethic has prepared her for service in every sense—service to Delta, service to community, and service to others above self. Through public service and social action, she has consistently poured into people and communities, creating meaningful impact and lasting change. Her dedication, compassion, and steadfast commitment embody the true spirit of sisterhood, and I am grateful to have walked this journey beside her—not just as a friend, but as a sister.
